Passengers in Raleigh (NC) will be able to watch television programs while travelling using Capital Area Transit (CAT) buses as Raleigh, WRAL and the CBC New Media Group have launched the first public mobile digital televisions on CAT buses.
CAT bus passengers will be able to enjoy WRAL’s local and syndicated programs throughout the day, as well as city news, real-time schedules, route-specific updates and other information on digital screens strategically placed inside buses.
Having this new television technology, today we can take the bus if we lose power at home or when our antennas are not working or when the cable is out, and this is the first time that people have been able to watch live TV while going down the highway. This new technology will be applied on 20 CAT buses in August 2010, and four more buses will be equipped with video monitors by August 2009.
