A Chinese website has posted a picture that show the iPhone model would be tested for release in China. The picture of the iPhone could be seen in the Chinese site the Sina.com on Friday morning. It showed an iPhone with simplified Chinese characters in its display. Simplified characters are used in China and Singapore. The iPhone in the picture also carries the China’s Environmental Protection Use Period mark which indicates the number of the years of normal operation during which hazardous or toxic substance included in the number will not change in a way that harms the environmental and human health.
For some reasons, the Sina.com soon replaced the pictures with a single one that had most of the phone’s rear inscription obscured. A China Unicom spokeswoman sad that the company is still in talks with the Apple but so far, there isn’t any formal agreement has been made about the iPhone.
She declined to make a further comment about that. Meanwhile, the Apple Company said that in April it hopes to start iPhone sales in China within the next year. China Unicom may launch the iPhone at the end of September to coincide with the expansion of its 3G coverage to the 280 cities.
