So far Amazon.com’s Kindle digital book readers can be read on Apple’s iPhone and as Amazon’s own reader, but now the company expects to make the e-books available also on other gadgets, so in the future digital book reader will display more book formats beyond its own.

The company’s device team has the duty of making the most remarkable purpose-built reading device in the world, and is are going to give the team a competition. It will make Kindle books at the same price of US$9.99 which is also available on the gadgets like iPhone, and other mobile devices as well as other computing devices.

Currently, the latest Kindle digital book reader model has better support for Adobe’s PDF file format, but in the future Kindle digital book readers would support other formats as well.

It will be a rare achievement if Amazon can build two profitable businesses out of the Kindle. Using the iPod, to which it the Kindle is often compared, Apple mainly profits from the hardware. It says the iTunes store is barely better than break-even. In contrast, Cellphone companies  subsidize the sale of phones but profit from monthly service charges.

But Amazon does not want either books or readers to subsidize the other. Instead, the company considered selling the Kindle with a lower upfront price, but requiring a monthly subscription or minimum number of books purchased.

In short, the company did consider selling the Kindle with a lower upfront price, but requiring a monthly subscription or minimum number of books purchased.

Microsoft Introducec Windows Embedded CE for Gadgets

Posted on 05 Jun 2009 at 1:08am

Microsoft has introduced Windows Embedded CE, the newest operating system for consumer gadgets that include media players, navigation systems, digital picture frames and digital televisions.

Windows Embedded is not similar to Android and other dialects of Linux, because it has a license which is fee charged by Microsoft for every device shipped with the operating system, usually US$3-15 in comply with the volume.

Microsoft said this fee is worth it because it costs the original equipment manufacturers (OEM) less to design software for Windows Embedded than for other operating systems.

The improvements to Windows Embedded are meant to facilitate device makers to design more attractive user interfaces. Particularly, they allow designers to use existing Microsoft tools like Expressions Web design software and Visual Studio programming environment, to make the menus, buttons and other features of a gadgets.

Android is promoted for cellphones and laptop computers, but Windows Embedded is not. There is Windows Mobile OS for phones. And the company wants netbooks to run the Windows 7 PC operating system, albeit with a cheaper limited version. The full version of Windows is meant only for processors using the X86 architecture. Windows Embedded can also run on other chips, including the ARM processor design used in many cellphones.

Sling Offers Facility to Get TV to Various Mobile Gadgets Set

Posted on 01 Jun 2009 at 1:46pm

Sling Media is offering cable and satellite companies a facility for getting television to various kinds of mobile gadgets equipment with no need to develop specific video services for each of the mobile gadgets set.

Sling has launched an application for the Apple iPhone recently, at price of  US$29.99 despite claim from AT&T that it work only over WiFi and not over the carrier’s 3G network. AT&T said it worried that Sling’s streaming video could hog its bandwidth and lead to dropped calls.

In 2007, Sling was acquired by satellite TV firm EchoStar which then split the company into two public firms namely consumer TV business Dish Networks and Echostar Corporation, which is owner of Sling and is wholly devoted to developing and licensing digital equipment for the television industry.

Under this new owner, Sling is expected to become more important, but the question today is whether EchoStar’s stewardship will propel Sling into most American homes, or just relegate it to the wayside on the road to convergence of TV and the Internet.

The idea of licensing Sling, even if they covet the gadgets technology, might feel a little like climbing into bed with a fierce competitor. But it seems that Echostar understands the sentiment. Probably the biggest obstacle in this business is the politics of common ownership, so the future of Sling and its Internet vision is likely to depend on the issue.

Solar Gadgets in Modern Technology can help out from crisis

Posted on 20 Oct 2008 at 8:06pm

Good Gadgets news! Some the gist of one’s thoughts from Richard Chapo maybe suitable to scrutinized in this time.

In the global crisis this time sure you not to regrets, but when we shall to make something that mean for ourselves and for another person. We are all alive in modern technologies periods, why fail to do something such as those which wrote by Richard Chapo hereunder?

Well, let us see Richard Chapo’s ideas specifics:

Solar Gadgets – Gotta Love Them

By Richard Chapo

It has been claimed that our nation is infatuated with a variety of things from civil rights to freedom. Bah! If we are honest, we will admit we are infatuated with gadgets.

Solar Gadgets – Gotta Love Them

Forget the oil addiction, our biggest weakness as a nation is we are fools for gadgets. If it peels an onion 56 different ways, we have to own it. Don’t believe me? Ask yourself one question. When you go to a fair, how many gadgets do you end up bringing home? Be honest. There is no shame in it. In fact, I believe there is an argument to be made that a particular subject matter, whatever it is, isn’t mainstream until it includes gadgets. If this is true, solar energy may finally be a real alternative.

Most of us have far too many gadgets, particularly small personal gadgets. Cell phones, ipods, pdas, Bluetooth, I have them all. I find it somewhat ironic that all these small gadgets that are to make my life easier make me look like Sherpa walking around. Regardless, the digital age has one problem and you already know what it is. Gadgets require power and they always run down when you need them most. This, of course, results in you walking around with a power converter in your hand looking for a convenient outlet of some sort. Instead of looking like a junkie trying to find a fix, you can use a very useful new gadget.

Solar power packs are the latest and greatest thing when it comes to gadgets. Yes, I said solar. The packs come in a variety of forms, but they tend to look like the black folders for your compact discs. The packs are thin and light. When you are outside, you just unzip them, lay them in the sun and plug your power hungry gadget into them. The packs will put a charge into your gadget and you’ll be ready to go.

Finally, solar power we can use on a personal level. I guess it is here to stay.
